Why we charge a fee
We’re committed to providing you and your family with the highest quality medical care.
While the Government has introduced new Medicare incentives for practices that bulk bill all eligible patients, these incentives still don’t cover the true cost of delivering safe, comprehensive care.
At our practice, we’ve chosen to maintain our private billing model so we can continue offering the time, expertise, and personalised attention every patient deserves. This ensures we can attract and retain skilled doctors, invest in quality equipment, and provide longer consultations when needed.

In addition to the Cervical Cancer screening program, we provide professional advice on breast care, cancer surveillance, sexual health, and contraception.
Skin prick testing stands as the most convenient approach to allergy testing. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in enhancing allergy diagnosis.
Appointments
Our standard appointments are for 20 minutes. If the normal consultation time exceeds 20 minutes, higher fees will be charged. Please arrange a longer consult booking with our Reception staff should you wish to discuss more complex issues such as GP Chronic Condition plans, mental health plans, annual health checks, women's health examinations, complete skin examinations, psychological counselling, or musculoskeletal & surgical procedures.
Cancellations
If you cannot attend your appointment, we respectfully request a minimum of 2 hours’ notice to avoid a cancellation fee. If you do not attend your scheduled appointment without giving the required notice, a non-refundable private fee of $50 (Standard appointment) or $100 (Long appointment) will apply. Dr Lauren-Phoebe Nielsen’s cancellation policy is within 24 hours with full appointment fees applying for non-attendance and late cancellations within this time. New patients who do not attend their consult without prior notice cannot be booked for another appointment. This fee is not refunded by Medicare.
Recalls and Reminders
When first registering at this practice, you will be asked for approval to allow SMS messaging or telephone contact for recalls or written reminder letters for participation in National screening and immunisation programs including the new Cervical Cancer Screening register. In addition, we maintain a list of patients with chronic diseases for timely recall in order to ensure that the best possible care and follow-up are provided. These registers are all made possible by our computerised record system and are kept confidential.
