MyMedicare

Registration is currently available! If you wish to enrol with MyMedicare and designate our clinic as your preferred medical centre, you can now complete the registration process either online or in person at our clinic.

To register online:
Begin the registration process through your Medicare Online Account or the Express Plus Medicare Mobile App. Prior to starting, locate our medical centre in the list of registered GP clinics on MyMedicare. Our medical centre’s staff will then confirm your registration in the MyMedicare system. For a step-by-step guide, please follow these instructions for online registration. If you cannot find our clinic in the list of registered medical centres on MyMedicare when registering online, please check back later in the month, as we may still be in the process of setting up in the system.

To register in person:
Alternatively, you can visit our medical centre and complete a registration form at the reception desk. By signing the form, you grant consent to our medical centre staff to enrol you in MyMedicare. Our practice staff will then finalise the registration in the MyMedicare system on your behalf.

WHAT IS MYMEDICARE?
MyMedicare is a new voluntary patient registration model that offers additional Medicare benefits to all patients holding a Medicare Card or a Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran card. These additional benefits are only available to those who register their preferred clinic with Medicare.

Patients who have had two face-to-face consultations with GPs at the clinic in the past 24 months can register for MyMedicare from October 1, 2023.

Make our clinic your primary clinic!

If you wish to select our medical centre as your primary clinic, please follow these steps to register online or in person by filling in this form.

FAQs

DOES REGISTRATION INCUR ANY COSTS?
No, registration is both free and optional.

HOW WILL IT BE BENEFICIAL TO ME?
MyMedicare aims to enhance the connection between you and your chosen doctor and medical centre. Consistently attending the same clinic and seeing the same GPs for your medical appointments will enable your selected doctor to provide you with better ongoing care. You can still visit other clinics, but you will enjoy additional benefits at your chosen clinic. If you want to designate our medical centre as your ‘home clinic,’ you must register with MyMedicare, select our medical centre, and choose your preferred GP. We extend a warm welcome to our current and former patients to choose our medical centre as their preferred home clinic.

Other benefits you will receive include:
All registered patients will have access to longer MBS-funded telehealth consultations (telephone calls) with GPs at your registered ‘home clinic’ (Levels C & D). This allows you and your GP to have more comprehensive conversations (over 20 minutes) about your health. Medicare will provide a higher rebate for these extended telehealth consultations to make them more cost-effective for you, but only at your registered home clinic (Arana Hills Medical Centre excluded).

The Australian Government plans to expand these initial benefits for registered patients over time, making it crucial to register our medical centre as your preferred ‘home clinic.’

IS REGISTRATION MANDATORY?
No, registration is entirely voluntary. You can choose not to register, but you will forego the extra Medicare benefits available when designating our medical centre as your preferred ‘home clinic.’

WHEN CAN YOU REGISTER, AND IS THERE A DEADLINE?
All patients can register for MyMedicare from October 1, 2023. There is no closing date or registration deadline.

CAN YOU REGISTER WITH MULTIPLE CLINICS?
No, MyMedicare aims to strengthen the connection between you and your preferred medical centre and doctor. Children are exempt from the requirement of having visited their GP twice in the past 24 months.

DO YOU NEED TO REGISTER CHILDREN?
Registration is optional for all patients. To receive MyMedicare benefits for your children, you must register each child with MyMedicare and designate their preferred clinic and GP.

A parent or guardian must register a child under 14 years of age and provide consent on their behalf. This must be done at the practice using the paper form exclusively.

Young people aged 14 to 17 years can register and provide consent without a parent or guardian. If a parent or guardian registers a minor aged between 14 and 17 years, the minor must indicate that they have provided informed consent.

ARE YOU COMMITTED TO A CLINIC ONCE REGISTERED?
No, you are not locked in. You can visit any medical centre or doctor of your choice. However, you will only receive additional Medicare benefits at your chosen ‘home’ clinic. If you change your mind, you can also unregister at any time.
