The Doctors

 Dr. Neil A. Hearnden  - Practice Principal

Senior Lecturer, School of Medicine University of Qld.

Neil is a Queensland graduate who has attained the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Practitioners and postgraduate diploma qualifications in the area of Musculoskeletal Medicine. As such, he is involved as a Teacher of Musculoskeletal Medicine in Queensland contributing to the knowledge of other doctors in this area of medicine. He is a past representative of Australian General Practitioners on Arthritis Australia as well as the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee of Osteoporosis Australia.

He was a founding member of the Brisbane North Division of General Practice and was actively involved on the board as Vice President; he also served as a council member on the Queensland branch of the AMA and has represented the Royal Australian College of GPs on the National Immunisation Committee.

Neil is currently pursuing extra skills in skin cancer medicine, via the Master of Medicine studies at University of Queensland

Dr Michael Yelland

Associate Professor, School of Medicine Griffith University

Michael is a highly experienced professional not only in General Practice but in the area of pain management & musculoskeletal medicine. He has held an academic post with Griffith University for many years and was closely involved in the Medical School. Michael has a passion for period instruments including various recorders including the unique Rackett.

  Dr Eden Richards 

Eden is an enthusiastic young doctor who trained and worked in North Queensland through James Cook University, recently moving to Brisbane to pursue a career in General Practice. She has a special interest in Women's and Children's Health, having attained a post-graduate diploma from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is trained in Mirena (IUD) and Implanon insertions to provide simple and trouble free family planning.

 As well as marrying her sweetheart, hence changing her name, Eden has had a busy year  in 2016 completing her General Practice Specialist examinations and has now received her Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners.   Eden is rapidly building her practice here at Arana Hills Medical as well as expanding her skills to include cosmetic medicine, specifically using botulinum toxin injection to smooth out those nasty wrinkle lines as well as gently applying fillers to the cosmetic trouble zones.

Dr Vivian Chan

Vivian is currently on Maternity Leave until January 2017

Vivian attained the Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2009. Her exuberant personality is a great addition to her clinical expertise which includes a particular interest in skin cancer medicine. She will continue part time practice after a period of maternity leave. When she can find the time away from medicine, Viv wields a talented bow on the Violin.

Dr Susan Bray

Sue has been with the practice since completion of her Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners having previously worked in a hospital operating theatre environment for most of her prior career. She now combines surgical assisting with her general practice role. She is a mean opponent in the local roller derby team and commands an impressive ability on the euphonium

Each year, the practice participates in training new general practitioners (called Registrars) after they have completed their hospital training. Fresh with the latest knowledge, they help keep the practice treatments up to date while gaining practical experience from the long term practice doctors.

Dr Ashleigh Lazzarini - General Practice Registrar

 


After completing her Science degree, Dr. Ashleigh has devoted herself to training in Emergency Medicine, extending her time in the public hospital system for this.  She is now undertaking the Diploma in Child Health while gaining experience in General Practice in preparation for the Fellowship examinations for the Royal College in 2018
